Southwestern’s football team (which moved to the Six Rivers during a realignment plan last year) will play its games in the spring. That move follows a recommendation voted on by conference members this week. As for its volleyball season, Southwestern will hold those matches this spring too. They compete in the SWAL’s volleyball conference which is set to vote Friday on how it will handle fall sports. Costello says that regardless of the SWAL’s action, Southwestern will move volleyball to the spring.
As far as athletics at Cuba City – the school board voted to keep cross country and girls’ golf in the fall. But, the Cuban football and volleyball teams will have their competitions moved to the spring. The district will stick with that plan no matter what the SWAL conference decides.
