The Milwaukee Brewers are staying in Wisconsin, at least through 2050, thanks to a new lease agreement approved Wednesday. The lease comes after lawmakers approved a bipartisan deal last year to help fund improvements to the stadium. The Brewers’ lease at American Family Field was supposed to expire in 2030. Governor Tony Evers said, “This is a home run, and it’s a great day to be a Wisconsinite and a Brewers fan.” The Brewers will put just over $3.3 million in 2024 through 2025 towards the Southeast Wisconsin Professional Baseball Park District as well as renovations and improvements. That contribution would grow to just over $5.3 million from 2046 to 2050. Additionally, the Brewers will put $50 million towards renovations and maintenance before 2050, with $25 million of that sum having to be contributed by Jan. 1, 2037. The state government will hand the Brewers $365.8 million over the term of the lease, while the city and county of Milwaukee will each contribute $67.5 million. That money will go towards a stadium improvement fund.
